in my dreams

So the other day bythelbs emailed me about cleaning out under her bed because she was going to be getting a new mattress and she discussed the possibility of spiders and spider carcasses and etc. I happened to read her email in the evening, and had a dream that night that featured a gigantic spider. I’m talking like Gilligan Island’s style gigantic spider. A grown man could have rode around on it. Fortunately, it ran off into the woods as soon as I saw it, and the really scary part about the dream was a small poisonous moth that kept flying around.

Then yesterday evening I read her blog. More spider talk. So last night as I was falling asleep, I chanted in my head, “Poisonous moth, poisonous moth…”

Can you guess what I had a dream about?

Gabby and her sister, Shazbraz.

Daniel and I went to visit them for some reason. (We’ve never met in real life.) Gabby had to leave somewhere, and she left her son with Shaz. So we were all hanging out at Shaz’s house. No topless gardening went on, don’t worry. But I was completely delirious from lack of sleep (funny to have a dream about not getting enough sleep) and I think Shaz thought I was a weirdo. Gabby’s son was *very* tan in my dream and his face was literally black. Like he’d colored it all over with a sharpie or something. At first we didn’t notice it (that’s how tan he was), until part of it started wiping off.

No spiders OR poisonous moths. There was a very soggy diaper on a very fussy baby, though.

I was also very tan…and skinny. A good dream!

Tan and skinny…a good dream, indeed.

I’m relieved I didn’t give you more nightmares. Are there really poisonous moths?!

  2. shazbraz Says:

Aw, thanks! That started my day off great–I love being dream popular!

Glad it wasn’t a bad dream night!

Poisonous moths? Maybe if you eat one? I hate moths, but the creep factor is nowhere near a spider.

That’s hilarious! I’ll keep you updated on any tan progress throughout the summer…

I couldn’t remember if you went by Tawnya or Gabby when you comment here. For the record, Gabby = Tawnya.

I think I finally get the tan bit. Because Shaz’s doctor told her to get more sun. Apparently we all were getting more sun. Sammy most of all.

Funny considering Sammy’s mom is hypersensitive about him getting sun (think big hat, the whole 9 yards!).

Tan. That would ONLY happen in my dreams.

And last year we had a brown recluse spider in our house. That’s bad enough but do you want to hear the very worst part? Stanton smashed it with his shoe and …. wait for it… hundreds of tiny baby brown recluse spiders went scattering off her back. HUNDREDS of them. It was so so so so so horrible.

    The end.

    Julie, thanks for the nightmares!

A spider nest hatched once when I was a teenager on our front door. Fortunately we lived in an old farmhouse where the front door was never used. I do remember them flying everywhere, though. I swear they had little parachutes or something. They went flying in the wind all over the place.

    Susan, that’s so Charlotte’s Web!
