I did not wish to take a cabin passage, but rather to go before the mast and on the deck of the world, for there I could best see the moonlight amid the mountains. I do not wish to go below now.

1. A piano student not showing up during a busy piano lesson day so I have time to sit around or do laundry or blog while my kids are occupied with the sitter.
2. A brand new bar of soap.
3. Hearing Journey on the radio.
4. Bright pink toenails. Especially mine.
5. Hiking in the mountains without a timetable, so we can go as slow as we want. But it hasn’t happened yet –this is why it’s random.

Someone on a phone call today used the phrase:
“It’s not necessarily necessary”
That made me happy.

Nick Cave makes me very, very happy. (I’ve been ripping all my music onto an external drive, and I have 33 hours 50 minute, 35 seconds worth of his music. That’s how happy.)

1. Driving all the way through town at 3 in the afternoon in the middle of summer. You get all green lights because it’s so hot outside no one is out and about.
2. A cool smoothie straw I bought at Juice it Up today. It has a little smoothie at the top that fills up with smoothie while it goes through to the top.
3. Peppermint patties. Junior mints.
4. Finding $5 in my purse I thought I gave to someone else.
5. Going a day without hearing anything political.
