Shazbraz tagged me for this one.
Here are the rules:
1) Post rules on your blog
2) Answer the six “8″ items
8 Favorite Shows:
1. American Idol I can’t believe how excited I am every week for this to come on. It’s pathetic. I’m a huge Adam Lambert fan.
2. Dancing With The Stars LOVE this show! Was so bummed when Maksim went home (his partner sucked, though). At this point, I’m hoping Tony and the Bachelor chick win it, I think.
3. The Office It’s kind of lost its shine, but it’s still funny. I’m one who loves the awkward episodes as much as the really funny ones.
4. Criminal Minds My favorite bad tv show. Although it’s not as bad as it used to be…which in my book means it’s not as good as it used to be.
5. Dollhouse This show has been fun for us. Trying to guess what’s going to happen next (it’s rather predictable at times) but also trying to figure out who Alpha is and what he’s trying to do…great show.
6. America’s Next Top Model A little show I like to call America’s Next Top DRAMA QUEEN. What’s not to love?
7. Ultimate Fighter Yes, it’s coming back on soon! I think Tyra should go on this show and do a counseling session with all the fighters. How awesome would that be? “Brett, I think everyone needs to tell you how they feel about you peeing in their fruit salad. Then you can respond.”
8. The Colbert Report Did you see when David Byrne was on the other day? I think it’s the first time Colbert has ever broke character and actually asked a question as himself. You can watch it here. (Skip to about half way through.)
These of course are just chosen from among TV shows currently on. All-time faves would be completely different.
8 Things I Did Yesterday:
1. Worked on a website for a wedding magazine.
2. Went grocery shopping.
3. Thought about going picture taking but went grocery shopping instead.
4. Watched this on you tube:
5. Dishes, dishes, dishes.
6. Cooked dinner.
7. Watched American Idol.
8. Watched Jim Gaffigan’s new comedy special with the boys. “Bacon always makes me thirsty…for more bacon!”
8 Things I’m Looking Forward To:
1. My parents visiting. They get here this weekend and will spend the week with us. It’ll be the kids’ spring break.
2. Family reunion (Daniel’s family) this summer.
3. Getting some film back from the lab tonight.
4. Going to Death Valley with my parents.
5. When Low tours again.
6. Fringe starting up again. Yes, the TV show. Yes, I have no life.
7. Taking Flat Liberace to Paris. Hey, it could happen.
8. Seeing Opeth in May. At a little college venue! Can’t wait.
8 Favorite Restaurants:
Who cares about restaurants? I’m gonna do…
8 Favorite Movies:
1. Life is Beautiful A story of incredible love, generosity and courage in the face of unimaginable horror.
2. The Journey of August King A man redeems himself by sacrificing all of his personal belongings, things he had worked years for, to save a young girl. It’s a great story.
3. The Spitfire Grill If you can’t tell, I have a thing for redemption stories, and in this movie, it’s the female character who does the redeeming. It has a couple favorite actors of mine in it, too—Ellen Burstyn and Will Patton.
4. A Walk to Remember Yes, it’s horribly cheesy and predictable and bad. I love, love, love it.
5. Serenity I can watch this movie anytime, anywhere. Only problem is I’m the only one in my family who likes it so no one ever wants to watch it!
6. Searching For Bobby Fisher Based on a true story, this is about a young boy chess prodigy and the pressures he faces. It’s really a sweet story and a great movie.
7. Les Miserables This isn’t a movie I ever intentionally set out to watch. I just will catch it when it’s on TV. And by the end of it I’m always thinking, “This is the greatest story ever told.”
8. Dancer, TX Pop. 81 This is a quiet little indie movie about 4 boys in a small town who graduate high school and their dreams of moving to L.A. My kind of movie.
8 Things On My Wish List:
1. A house. With four bedrooms, two car garage, pool and big yard. Hey, I can dream.
2. No debt. Except for that house, I suppose. But all that other debt, gone.
3. A new dining room set.
4. New bedding.
5. A Great Wall camera. And a Seagull camera. Although really, since this is a wish list, I should be wishing for a Hasselblad, Rollei or Leica.
6. A darkroom!
7. Going places. Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Salton Sea, etc. Desert, desert, desert.
8. Seeing the Waterboys, Calexico, Low and the Frames all play a show together. Like heaven.
8 People I Tag:
1. Don’t
2. like
3. tagging
4. people.
5. Do it
6. if
7. you
8. want.

Les Miserables is the greatest story ever! Loved that movie, too (almost better than the musical, and that’s saying something!). I also loved Bobby Fischer and Life is Beautiful.
P.S. My wish is also to be debt free.

Ooh, now I have some movies to add to my list for when my semester ends in May. Cool.

Ha! I see our “tagging 8 people” is oddly similar…

Awesome.
MotWB: I was also going to mention two other fave movies—Something to Talk About (a movie about a married couple who are having troubles and actually WORK THEM OUT—plus it stars some fave actors of mine, Robert Duvall, the woman from the Closer, and Gena Rowland) and Three Wishes. Yes, it stars Patrick Swayze, but it’s a sweet/magical tale and it’s awesome.

So many things to comment about here…
1) LOVE AI and AL. They are a great Tuesday night pair.
Did you see Whalerunner? I think that’s what it’s called. With Keisha Castle-Knight, I think? Great movie.
2) I really enjoy DWTS, but I never seem to remember it’s on. Maks really is one nice specimen, though.
3) I, too, relish the awkward Office episodes. I’m not over the moon about it this year, but it’s still in my top 3.
4) Have you checked out Life? It’s is awesome.
5) We share a favorite movie — Life is Beautiful is my all-time favorite. Problem is, no one else in my house likes it, so I never get to watch it.
6) I’ve never watched the Les Miserables movie — onto my Netflix queue it goes.
7) LOVE Searching for Bobby Fischer although I haven’t seen it in years.
9) Bacon….yummy.
10) Ever seen Brian Regan? He’s another hilarious one.
Loved your tag. Great post.

PS, watching that Bobby Fischer clip really does make me wish I could make my brain understand chess.

I haven’t seen Whalerunner, I’ll keep an eye out for it. Another good movie (quiet and slow, which I love) is Snow Walker. I think that’s the name. A guy gets injured way up in the north and has to rely on a native Eskimo girl who is ill to stay alive.

Quiet and slow are my favorite. They are not one bit Stanton’s favorite, which means I have to watch them when he’s out of town. He’s not out of town much.

Love Jim Gaffigan and “seeing the Waterboys!” yes!

Interesting lists. Life is Beautiful is such a stunning movie. I loved it. Yep I say wish for that Hassleblad. Heck your wishing for a house in OC might as well have a Hassleblad or a Leica too!

dan made us watch serenity the last time we were back. it’s been on tv here too before. at this point i can barely remember most of what was in it. i do remember that when they start speaking chinese it is beyond terrible. it sounds like they spent maybe 5 minutes with a vocal coach if even that.

4. Flew back to Dallas.

3. Coaching the Fire Ants boys under-5 soccer team to yet another victory on Saturday.
4. Church on TV this weekend. That means Church in PJs at our house.
5. More Cadbury Mini Eggs.
6. The return of Fringe (yeah, me too. I would argue that Fringe is GREAT bad TV.).
7. Mowing my lawn. It’s a weird thing, because later in the summer I will dread it completely. But right now, I’m looking forward to it. Go figure.

1. An Epiphone/Gibson Les Paul
2. Wii Fit
3. A New Car! [/Price is Right Voice]
4. A couple new suits. I’m a lawyer. I can’t keep just wearing the same suit over and over.
5. A netbook.
6. Some new bowls. Our old ones are all chipped and mismatched.
7. A toaster. Our current one is a Hello Kitty toaster that is cute, but doesn’t toast evenly.
8. A nice set of kitchen knives.
I too am anti-tagging. I hate to feel obligated, or to make others feel obligated.
April 2nd, 2009 at 7:35 am
William: I’m sure their excuse was that the movie is set in the future, and the language has evolved.
Greg: Awesome! We need a new toaster, too. I’ve resorted to using the oven. I keep burning my Eggos. Wings of Desire is a fantastic movie. And have fun at Robyn Hitchcock! I saw him (with my brother William, above) in the 80s once. I remember him telling a lot of stories.

What template are you running on this site ? I really like it. Could you post where you got it from ?
May 16th, 2009 at 7:33 am
It’s a custom theme, made it myself. It’s based off one I installed but I don’t remember which.
