So my work deadline has passed and I survived it…barely. Now I’m going richter taking pictures because I have some free time to. Not as much free time as I want (the websites we launched still need work done), but I’ve managed to shoot a ton of film this last week somehow anyway.
This was taken with a half-frame camera I picked up this weekend at a used camera store. Half frame cameras are fun—they fit two shots in the space of one, so you get paired shots like this. I’ve decided I’m going to start taking pictures of interesting house numbers. Couldn’t believe my luck when I came across this one.
I mainly took this one because of the graffiti tag, not sure I even realized the arrows echoed each other when I took it.
It says, CAUTION – DREAMS AHEAD. Posters someone put up on an abandoned Levitz store down the road.
Reflection of me on a curved window in Santa Ana. See how little the cars look?
Another half frame shot. I love how colorful Santa Ana is.
This one was an experiment. Took this with a Holga, which does not have an accurate viewfinder. What you see looking through the camera is not what ends up on film. The camera captures stuff outside the range of the viewfinder. For this shot, I aimed the viewfinder exactly above the sign, so all I saw was blank sky in the frame. Pure guesswork, but it came out perfect.
This is probably my favorite pictures I’ve taken in awhile.
This fence was actually green, but not quite this color green. The film I used tends to have a greenish cast to it when I scan it, but I think that’s just my scanner choking on it. So if I shoot something green, it comes out really green.
I went back to the Crystal Cathedral. This was taken with a semi-fisheye attachment on the camera, which is where the curve of the buildings comes from.
This is a Buddhist temple in Garden Grove. It’s a cool place.
My daughter Cat took a picture of me with a semi-fisheye attachment on the camera. Surrounded by red cars.
