I’m Susan. 38, married for 19 years, with three kids. A Mormon housewife into doom metal. And this is my blog.

It’s just insane.

Music, Youtube

The amount of great shows coming up. Here’s what I already have tickets for (and yes I’ve been blowing way too much money, but these are irresistable):

Jackson Browne — TONIGHT. Only my favorite song writer ever. Here’s a favorite verse:

Time will come when we know what happened here
Change will come in time and make it clear
We learn one thing if we learn at all
In the secret wars we call our lives
Anything can happen

Jackson’s also doing a free instore in Hollywood on Tuesday. I’m trying not to think about it too much, because I have to miss it.

We’re seeing Opeth that night. OPETH.

And here’s the whopper:

VAN MORRISON PERFORMING ASTRAL WEEKS IN ITS ENTIRETY.

Yes. You read that correctly. Here’s the official announcement:

Van Morrison has scheduled two nights at the Hollywood Bowl in November for an upcoming DVD release.

Scheduled for Nov. 7 and 8, the shows will feature Morrison performing his landmark 1968 album Astral Weeks in its entirety for the DVD Astral Weeks Live at the Hollywood Bowl.

This is one of those shows I’d see on DVD at a store and be really envious of the people who got to see it live. I just got tickets this morning. I’m going to be one of those people!

Astral Weeks is only one of the most brilliant albums ever released. I still can’t believe it. He’s going to do the whole thing live. I’ll be able to see him do my favorite song, ever. Sweet Thing:

Sweet Thing By Van Morrison

And I will stroll the merry way and jump the hedges first
And I will drink the clear, clean water
For it’ll quench my thirst
And I shall watch the ferry-boats
And they’ll get high
On a bluer ocean
Against tomorrow’s sky

And I will never grow so old again
And I will walk and talk
In gardens all wet with rain
Oh sweet thing, you sweet thing
My, my, my, my, my sweet thing

I shall drive my chariot
Down your streets and cry,
‘Hey, it’s me, I’m dynamite
And I don’t know why’
And you shall take me strongly
In your arms again
And I will not remember
That I ever felt the pain

We shall walk and talk
In gardens all misty wet, all misty wet with rain now
And I will never, never, never
Grow so old again

Oh you sweet thing, oh you sweet thing
My, my, my, my, my…

And I will raise my hand up
Into the night time sky
And count the stars
That’s shining in your eye
Just to dig it all, and not to wonder,
That’s just fine
And I’ll be satisfied
Not to read in between the lines

And I will walk and talk
In gardens all wet with rain
And I will never, ever, ever, ever
Grow so old again
Oh sweet thing, oh sugar-baby,
Oh sweet thing
With your champagne eyes
And your saint-like smile…
